The Director-General/CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Kelechi Ohiri, has received an Award of Excellence and Supporter of the Anti-Corruption Drive from the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN), the training and research arm of the ICPC.
Presented on 27 October 2026, the award recognizes his support for transparency, accountability and anti-corruption initiatives, including capacity-building for the NHIA Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).
In his acceptance remarks, Dr Ohiri dedicated the recognition to his colleagues and ordinary Nigerians, describing it as a call to do more, improve institutional systems and earn the trust of the people.
For NHIA, the fight against corruption goes beyond compliance. It is about strengthening service delivery, protecting public resources and ensuring that Nigerians can access healthcare when they need it most.
As Dr Ohiri emphasized, effective systems and financial access to healthcare can make a real difference when illness strikes.
